This page records ideas on how we can celebrate LARC's 100th birthday in the year 2020. Additions are welcome - that's what the page is for!
One way to celebrate is for LARC to host the RAC Annual General Meeting (AGM). Work is already in progress for this, and here are some ideas that have been mentioned in the past:
From: Doug Elliott <canoe.eh@gmail.com> Date: 2017-05-26 13:06 (GMT-05:00) To: David McCarter Subject: Re: LARC 2020 Random thoughts on LARC Hosting the 2020 RAC AGM as part of our 100 year celebration: -invite Marc Garneau to talk -invite Bob Heil to talk -stage a fox hunt just before/after the actual AGM -set up a tour of the EOC at the Byron Firehall -set up a handheld reachability test range, with test receive stations, positioned 15, 20, 25, 30 Km in a some direction, with results recorded and published -maybe have an IMS 200 course (multi-day) co-ordinated with AGM? or just a session to write IMS 100 test? -issue a badge/patch/certificate to participants in some event commemorating LARC's birthday -have a QSO party with specially created QSO cards, and/or electronic equivalent -sell commemorative T-Shirts, Baseball caps with call signs, etc -get the use of an IRLP reflector for talk-in, pre-event nets, announcements during the event, -have a demonstration room for SDR, PSK31, JT65, APRS, latest ICOM, Yaesu, Kenwood, China rigs, etc -shuttle bus tours of the 427 Wing? -"write the license exam" sessions for basic and advanced HAM licenses. 73, Doug Elliott VA3DAE
